Dropout Conversion

Test

I want to convert the dropout to horizontal dropout, for use with fixed gear rear wheel.

A old offroad steelframe. The dropout is brazed on. Use a acetylen/oxygen flame to heat up and loosen the old dropouts. Clean up and remove must of the old brazing metal.

Cut out new horizontal dropout from a 5mm steel plate. Fix it in right position, if you have a frame jig, it is of course the best way.

Clean all the contact point and add Flux - warm up slowly and add brazing material like 830 silver alloy (old silverspoon) or a good castolin product.

With 700c wheels and 1.95 tires the frame looks quite small compared to the big wheels..
